Sometimes individuals who have been impacted by sexual harassment or discrimination do not want to engage in a formal process to resolve the issue. Supportive measures are non-disciplinary, non-punitive individualized services offered as appropriate and reasonably available, at no cost, and designed to restore or preserve equal access to the College’s education programs or activities without unreasonably burdening the other party.

Resources

Examples of supportive measures include, but are not limited to:

  • Counseling
  • Extensions of deadlines or other course-related adjustments
  • Modifications of work or class schedules
  • Campus escort services
  • Mutual restrictions on contact between the parties
  • Changes in work or housing locations
  • Leaves of absence
  • Increased security and monitoring of certain areas of the campus

Counseling Services
We offer short- and long-term counseling services to help you overcome obstacles and grow academically and personally. A licensed clinical social worker is available to work objectively with you on a short-term basis. Counseling also is available on the Sedalia campus for all SFCC students through a partnership with Central Methodist University.

Pregnant & Parenting Students
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (“Title IX”), 20 U.S.C. §1681 et seq., is a Federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex—including pregnancy and parental status—in educational programs and activities. SFCC is committed to supporting all students in their continued access to the educational programs and activities of the College, including those who are pregnant, have recently been pregnant or who have recently become responsible for the care of a newborn child.

To request pregnancy-related accommodations, please contact the Disability Resource Center for an appointment.
