Be our guest! We invite you to watch and enjoy as our students share their outstanding talents in plays, musicals, concerts, and art exhibitions. Guest speakers, performers and other special events add to the creative mix.
Current Arts Season
There’s always something artistically amazing happening on campus! Our Current Arts Season features plays and music concerts in the fall, followed by a spring semester filled with great plays, concerts, recitals, and a new Daum exhibition. We’ll close out the year with our annual Student Art Show, Student Theatre Showcase and Musical Retrospect. Join us!
Daum Museum of Contemporary Art
The world-renowned Daum Museum of Contemporary Art on campus features a diverse permanent collection and offers three exhibition cycles each year and up to 15 exhibitions.
Support the Arts
The Arts entertain and enlighten; they spark innovation and creativity; and they improve academic performance. For these reasons and a host of others, we invite you to support the Arts at SFCC. Contributing is easy, and genuinely appreciated.
Performing Arts Auditions
We offer scholarships in all our fine and performing arts programs. These scholarships are open to high school seniors, transfer students, majors, and nonmajors. You are welcome to audition for multiple programs. To learn how to be considered for a scholarship and to schedule an audition, visit performing arts auditions.
Our second production is JUNIE B. JONES THE MUSICAL! Book and lyrics by Marcy Heisler, music by Zina Goldrich. Adapted from the JUNIE B. JONES Series of books by Barbara Park, we follow Junie B. as she navigates big changes in her life! As she starts first grade, Junie’s friend, Lucille, doesn`t want to be her best pal anymore and, on the bus, Junie B. makes friends with Herb, the new kid at school. Also, Junie has trouble reading the blackboard and her teacher, Mr. Scary, thinks she may need glasses. Throw in a friendly cafeteria lady, a kickball tournament and a "Top-Secret Personal Beeswax Journal," and first grade has never been more exciting!
Kristen is looking to cast 6-10 actors for this musical! Apart from Junie, the performers will play a variety of roles in this production. Fun choreography will be integrated into the show as well! There are also plenty of technical roles to fill.
Whether you want to audition or help behind the scenes, come join us for the audition evenings this week: Wednesday 8/23 & Thursday 8/24 from 6:00-9:00pm at the Stauffacher Theatre! If you’d like to fill out the audition form prior to auditions, email Theatre Program Coordinator Kristen Henning at khenning@sfccmo.edu.
First production for the fall semester is William Shakespeare’s HENRY V, directed by Tim Wells. The show will run October 5-8, 2023, at the Stauffacher Theatre. This version of HENRY V is a modern language adaptation and will run approximately an hour and a half without an intermission.
HENRY V is a history play, believed to have been written around 1599. This story of the titular king takes place during the events shortly before and after the Battle of Agincourt (1415) during the Hundred Years’ War (1337-1453). In spite of having a significantly smaller army than the French, King Henry V leads an expedition to France and defeats them at Agincourt.
Tim is looking to cast 12-15 actors! With the exception of King Henry V, the performers will play a variety of roles in this production. Broad sword fight choreography will be integrated into the show as well!
Please join us in congratulating our SFCC Theatre Class of 2023!

THE STORY:
The scene is the exclusive New York fur salon of Bodley and Crouch, where Crouch (the well-meaning innocent) struggles to keep things on an even keel despite the energetic philandering of his partner. At the moment, Bodley is trying to secure the affections of his latest would-be mistress by “selling” her husband an expensive mink fur coat for a fraction of its real worth, and the stammering Crouch is saddled with the task of consummating the sale with a straight face. But, as luck would have it, the husband seizes the bargain coat as the perfect gift for his own mistress—whereupon the complications burgeon uproariously, with poor Crouch caught in the middle. Suspicious wives, mistaken identities, scantily clad girls clapped hurriedly into closets and a continuous barrage of rapid fire jokes all become part of the hilarious doings, as the action of the play bubbles along merrily right up to the final curtain when, miraculously and to the great relief of all concerned, everything somehow manages to work out as it should.

Adapted by Sloan E. Garner
Directed by Ryan P. Mahannah
Music Composed and Directed by James Hyde III
Thompson O’Sullivan Studio Theatre
Dates: March 10-12

THE STORY: “The Tempest” is a play about magic, betrayal, love and forgiveness. It is set on an island somewhere near Italy where Prospera, the one-time Duke of Milan, and her beautiful daughter, Miranda, live with a spirit called Ariel and a strange wild being called Caliban. Prospera is a powerful magician who creates a storm, or tempest, that sets the scene for the play. In the events that follow we see a plot to murder the King of Naples, a drunken scheme to kill Prospera and a romance between Miranda and the King’s daughter, Fernanda. In the midst of all this chaos will forgiveness win out for a happy ending? Or will revenge take its course?
