Thank you for your service to our country. We strive to provide our veterans, active-duty military and members of the National Guard or Reserve with the best possible support services to help meet your education goals.
SFCC is committed to the 8 Keys to Veterans’ Success, a voluntary initiative through the Departments of Education, Veterans Affairs and Defense that highlights specific ways colleges and universities can support veterans, and The Principles of Excellence.
Special Military Tuition Rate
Active-duty military personnel, Reserve, National Guard members, and veterans and their dependents qualify for our special military (in-district) tuition rate. To receive this rate, you must provide us with the appropriate military or VA documentation that reflects GI Bill eligibility status.
Before enrolling, you must bring appropriate documentation to any campus location where staff will review the documentation, and you can complete the Certification of Military/Veteran/Dependent Status Form on site.
If you cannot complete this process in person, eligibility can be established by providing the appropriate documentation to a notary, completing the Certification of Military/Veteran/Dependent Status Form and mailing it to State Fair Community College, Admissions and Outreach, 3201 West 16th St., Sedalia, MO 65301.

Tuition Assistance Links
Military Tuition Assistance is a benefit paid to eligible members of the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard. Congress has authorized each service the ability to pay up to 100 percent for the tuition expenses of its members. Each service has its own criteria for eligibility, obligated service, application process, and restrictions. This money is normally paid directly to the college by the individual services. I am going to be changing my degree program. Do I need to report this to the Department of Veterans Affairs?
Yes. You will need to complete the SFCC-Change of Major form with your navigator. You will also need to complete the VA Request for Change of Program or Place of Training form (22-1995) and submit it to the Financial Aid and Veteran Services at 3201 West 16th St., Sedalia, MO 65301; fax to (660) 530-5820; or email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
What happens if I drop or add a class?

* Please note that any added or dropped classes may cause changes in your benefits and potential overpayment, which you might be responsible for paying back.
What is considered full-time in the fall, spring and summer semesters?
Full-time is 12 hours the entire 16 weeks of the fall and spring semesters. Interim courses are considered part of the semester they precede. Full-time in the summer semester is six hours the entire eight weeks.
* If you enroll in courses that start late or end early, your benefits may be affected.
How many hours must I be enrolled in each semester to receive the Basic Allowances for Housing (BAH) (Chapter 33 only)?
You must be enrolled in greater than half-time each term (seven to 11 credits hours for fall and spring) to receive 50 percent of your BAH. You must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours to receive 100 percent of your BAH.
How much does my education benefit cover?
The amount of the benefit you receive is based on the chapter benefits you are receiving, as well as the number of credit hours in which you are enrolled each semester. Enrolling in classes with various beginning and ending dates such as interim classes, first eight-week and second eight-week classes may also affect your monthly benefit and when you will receive it.
For example, if you have six credits that start at the beginning of the semester and six more credit hours that start half way through the semester, you will not receive your housing allowance until halfway through the semester.
To find out how much you will receive and when you may be eligible, go to www.gibill.va.gov or call (888) 442-4551.
How do I receive my monthly benefits (Chapter 30, 1606 and 1607)?
You will need to verify your attendance to the VA on the last day of every month by visiting Web Automated Verification of Enrollment or calling (877) 823-2378.
How much BAH will I receive at SFCC (Chapter 33 only)?
You can find out how much BAH you will receive by visiting www.vets.gov/gi-bill-comparison-tool.
Will I still receive BAH if I enroll in all online courses (Chapter 33 only)?
Yes. If you enroll in all online courses, you are still eligible for BAH as long as your rate of pursuit is greater than half-time (seven or more hours for fall and spring).
However, if you enroll in online skills courses (anything under the 100 level) they will not count as credit hours toward your housing and education benefits.
How do I transfer my VA Education Benefits from another institution?
