Student Ambassadors

Wagner Nascimento

Wagner came to SFCC from Brazil to join the Roadrunners men’s soccer team and to experience America’s heartland.

Besides serving as a Student Ambassador, Wagner is a Student Life resident assistance, performs in SFCC’s Jazz Choir and Jazz Band, and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society.

His program of study includes business and economics. Wagner likes investing in the stock market, has even turned a profit and started a digital marketing agency! Naturally, his favorite class is Economics, and Dr. Christopher Kindle is his favorite instructor because he is supportive of students.

Wagner wants to become a successful economist, own several businesses and inspire Brazilians to go to college. He enjoys hiking, sightseeing, soccer, movies and the internet.

While at SFCC, he has realized valuable lessons from making good and bad choices. No doubt, those lessons will help him to achieve his dreams. “I hope to attend an Ivy League school and become the first billionaire in my family!” Wagner says.

Caitlin Brandt

Small classes, close to home, A+ scholarship, and a good education program are the things that brought Caitlin to SFCC.

She is a member of the Spirit Squad cheer team and SFCC’s Student Missouri State Teachers Association.

Caitlin’s major is elementary and secondary education with a minor in math. Her favorite class has been Foundations of Education in a Diverse Society with Cara Barth-Fagan. In this class, she read “Real Talk for Real Teachers” that opened her eyes to the real world of teaching.

Caitlin plans to transfer to CMU to complete a bachelor’s in education. Personally, she looks forward to settling down and having a family. She enjoys coloring, baking, Netflix, and spending time with family.

At SFCC, Caitlin has learned making new friends and attending activities make for a great college experience. “Memories you make here will stick with you,” Caitlin says. “SFCC is so much fun. The teachers and staff make sure everyone feels welcome. Coming to SFCC was the best decision.”

Thanh “Johnny” Nguyen

Johnny chose SFCC after his host mom recommended it because it offers on-campus living and prepares students for university. His homeland is Vietnam.

Johnny works as a writing tutor to help fellow students and is involved in SFCC’s theatre productions.

His major is Digital Marketing, and he plans to earn a bachelor’s in marketing with emphasis in digital marketing. Eventually, Johnny wants to use his skills for non-profit organizations.

His favorite classes have been English Composition I and II taught by Dr. Amanda Drake. Johnny says, “Dr. Drake changed my initial thought about writing as a talent to writing as a skill, which means a lot of practice!”

He spends time in Proctor Library studying to earn As but likes to socialize and enjoys singing, dancing, cooking, acting, and calligraphy. He loves Starbucks coffee, matcha tea and essential oils for meditation.

At SFCC, Johnny has learned communication is valuable for connecting with others and solving problems. Also, showing kindness and patience are important as well as meditation and calmness.

Chasity Wilson

Chasity’s hometown is Warrensburg. She chose SFCC as her college because she wants to earn an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing. Her end goal is to become a nurse practitioner with a specialty in NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) or labor and delivery.

Besides serving as an ambassador, Chasity is involved in SFCC’s Nursing Club. In her free time, she loves to bake and cook and is a “major” crafter. Spending time with family and friends is also important to her.

Her favorite class has been Microbiology with Dr. Kevin Lawson because he makes it fun and interactive.

The most important life lessons Chastity says she has learned at SFCC is to be open to change, and “remember, your life as a college student isn’t engraved in stone.”
