State Fair Community College will offer a new paramedic training program at its Clinton campus through a partnership with the University of Missouri Health Care Emergency Medical Services Institute and Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare.

The 51-week program will begin Oct. 29. Classes will meet Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Clinton campus. Participants must hold a current basic emergency medical technician certification before entering the program. Students will complete 516 classroom hours and 650 clinical hours for a total of 1,166 training hours. The application deadline is Oct. 16.

“This new paramedic training program reflects our commitment to expanding workforce opportunities through meaningful partnerships,” said Amy Jackson, executive director of The LearningForce at SFCC. “By bringing this training to the Clinton campus, we’re making it easier for individuals to prepare for rewarding EMS careers while helping address the growing need for skilled paramedics across our region.”

The program was developed in response to increased interest in paramedic education and workforce data showing a regional need for skilled emergency medical services professionals. Through an affiliation agreement with the MU Health Care EMS Institute, SFCC’s Clinton campus will serve as a satellite location for paramedic training. The partnership is supported by MoExcels state grant funding. Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare will provide an instructor and serve as a clinical training site for students.

“With SFCC serving as a satellite training site, students will have access to education close to home, and our communities will benefit from a highly trained EMS workforce,” said Allison Brosch, SFCC dean of health sciences. “Support from the MoExcels grant funding, MU Health Care EMS Institute and Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare make this opportunity possible, and we are thrilled to be part of it.”

Participants must apply through the University of Missouri’s paramedic program website at https://extension.missouri.edu/programs/ems-education/paramedic-program.

Program information also will be available through The LearningForce at https://connect.sfccmo.edu/portal/tlf.
