State Fair Community College adjunct instructor Leslie Brantley was recently presented with a 2026 NISOD Excellence Award in recognition of her outstanding dedication to students, colleagues and the college.
The National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development Excellence Awards recognize faculty members, staff and administrators who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment and contribution to their students and colleagues. SFCC is a NISOD member institution.
Brantley has taught at SFCC since 2013, primarily through online and dual credit formats. She consistently accepts the challenge of teaching courses in a variety of formats, including intensive two-week intersessions and eight- and 12-week sessions.
Communication instructor Sarah Nail presented the award to Brantley during the week of July 20. Nail also serves as lead instructor for Public Speaking and Introduction to Communication and coordinator of Digital Media Communications.
“Leslie is an exceptional instructor, collaborator and colleague who consistently goes above and beyond for her students,” Nail said. “Whether she is teaching a traditional semester, a short intersession or a dual credit course, she finds meaningful ways to connect with students and keep them engaged. Her dedication, empathy and commitment to academic integrity make her an asset to SFCC.”
Although engaging students in an online environment can present challenges, Brantley personalizes her courses through individualized announcements, Zoom meetings and course materials tailored to students’ needs. She also works to ensure that students in dual credit classrooms receive a college-level educational experience while maintaining SFCC’s academic expectations and standards.
In addition to teaching, Brantley collaborates with colleagues, serves on multiple college committees and helps facilitate dual credit instruction. Her colleagues describe her as a dependable and dedicated educator who remains committed to student success regardless of the course length or delivery format.
