High school seniors who choose to enroll in Technical Education or Health Science programs at State Fair Community College in the fall are invited to participate in a National Signing Day at 10 a.m. April 19 in Thompson Conference Center in the Heckart Science and Allied Health

Center on Sedalia campus. Participating in Career and Technical Education Letter of Intent Signing Day is a way to recognize and celebrate students who are committing to pursue higher education at SFCC.

Students who wish to participate on April 19 need to apply for admission to SFCC and have submitted a Signing Day registration form no later than March 31. For students pursuing a health science occupation, admission to SFCC is not automatic acceptance into the program. Health Science programs require completing a second, program-specific application; however, completing a health science application is not required to participate in Signing Day. For more information about signing day and to complete the registration form go to www.sfccmo.edu/signingday.

“We are proud to host and celebrate students who are committing to pursue careers in technical careers and the health sciences at SFCC,” said Michael Rogg, Technical Education and Workforce Innovation dean. “A technical education prepares students for rewarding careers and grows a highly skilled workforce that provides valuable services locally and even globally. It is an honor to recognize these students.”

SFCC offers technical programs in agriculture, automotive, accounting, business and office management, computers, network administration and information systems, criminal justice, fire science, early childhood development, graphic design and digital communications, construction management, engineering and architectural design, electrical and industrial maintenance, robotics, machining, and welding. Training capacity increased last year in SFCC’s precision machining and welding programs with the opening of the Olen Howard Workforce Innovation Center. Recently, SFCC purchased 200 acres of farmland next to the Sedalia campus for a working farm that will expand SFCC’s agriculture programs.

SFCC’s health science careers include behavioral health support, dental hygiene, diagnostic medical sonography, nurse aide, medication technician, pharmacy technician, health information technology, phlebotomist, medical coding, medical assisting, medical laboratory technician, practical and registered nursing, occupational therapy assistant, radiologic technology, and surgical technology.

“Celebrating students who are committing to study health-related occupations at SFCC is a great day for our faculty and staff,” said Allison Brosch, Health Sciences dean. “We look forward to welcoming students into our accredited, high job placement programs and our top ranked nursing programs. It’s fun meeting their families and friends and witnessing the signing of their letters, which marks a big milestone in their lives.”

For students who want to transfer and pursue a bachelor’s degree, SFCC offers Associate of Arts, Associate of Arts in Teaching, Associate of Fine Arts (visual and performing), and Associate of Science in Chemistry or Engineering programs. Admission applications are free and available at www.sfccmo.edu/apply.  Summer and fall enrollment open April 4.
