Sedalia, MissouriFeb. 7, 2023 – State Fair Community College is offering an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Surgical Technology that will begin Aug. 21. This degree can be earned in 12 months and is delivered in online and on-ground formats. The curriculum includes laboratory hours on the SFCC-Clinton campus, clinical hours at an assigned site, and virtual reality tools to enhance the learning process. The application deadline is May 1 to begin Aug. 21.

Graduates of the Surgical Technology program will be trained to deliver patient care expected of an entry level surgical technologist and to perform as a contributing member of a surgical team. This training includes the skills needed for preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative patient care.

From the Missouri Hospital Association 2022 Annual Workforce Report, there was a 17.5% vacancy rate for surgical technologists and was listed in the top 10 hospital professions with the highest employee vacancy. Salaries range from $36,650-$44,990 according to the ACT WorkKeys Assessment for 2020.

Prospective students must complete an admission application to SFCC and an application to the Surgical Technology program. Admission to SFCC does not guarantee admission to the program.
