State Fair Community College Adult Education & Literacy is launching its first Integrated Education and Training program for paraprofessional and substitute teaching certification, providing participants with a pathway into school support roles ahead of the upcoming academic year. The program is an approved provider through the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and is designed to prepare participants for immediate employment opportunities in local school districts.
Classes will be offered this summer, and students who successfully complete the program will be certified and ready to begin working by the start of the new school year. There is no cost to participate in the program. However, students are responsible for fingerprinting and DESE certification fees. Expected fees include $43.50 for MACHS fingerprinting and $50 for the DESE substitute certificate.
The program is intended for current paraprofessionals seeking substitute teaching certification, recent graduates exploring career opportunities in education, and individuals interested in supporting local schools through instructional support roles.
Registration will be held in person May 27-29 in Fielding Room 215 on SFCC’s Sedalia campus. Participants must provide a valid Missouri photo ID, Social Security card, and high school transcript, diploma or equivalent.
Two orientation sessions are required and will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 3 and 4 in Fielding Room 231 on SFCC’s Sedalia campus.
Classes will meet from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Fielding Room 231 on June 9-11, June 30, July 1-2, July 7-9 and July 14-16.
