Each year we recognize the outstanding achievements of an SFCC graduate by presenting the Distinguished Alumni Award.

Nominees must be persons of such integrity, stature and ability that SFCC faculty, staff, students, and alumni can be inspired by their recognition. Nominees must recognize, take pride in and reflect the importance of their SFCC education.

To nominate an SFCC graduate for the award, please submit to the SFCC Foundation the following materials:

  • A completed Distinguished Alumni nomination form (complete online below)
  • A nomination letter stating why the individual deserves the award
  • Two letters of recommendation from other individuals knowledgeable about the nominee’s accomplishments and pride in SFCC

You are welcome to supply additional materials such as newspaper or magazine articles about the nominee, publications or other materials produced by the nominee, additional letters of recommendation, etc.

The award is presented annually at SFCC’s commencement. Nominations are accepted throughout the year. Nominees who are not selected remain in the pool for five years from the nomination date. A selection committee reviews all applications.

Individuals who are Board of Trustees members or full-time SFCC faculty or staff during the current fiscal year are ineligible to be nominated. Distinguished Alumni Awards are not granted posthumously.
