Teaching children may be the most important job out there. If you want to help shape the futures of students in your classroom, our program will prepare you to become an effective, and we hope extraordinary, elementary teacher.
Earning an AAT degree at SFCC ensures that your degree will transfer to all Missouri four-year colleges or universities where you can complete a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. SFCC has specific teacher education transfer agreements with Central Methodist University, the University of Central Missouri and the University of Missouri-Columbia. Your navigator will help you choose the right classes so the transition to the college of your choice is a smooth one.
To succeed as a teacher, you need excellent interpersonal skills. You must be able to analyze the needs of individual students, plan individual programs of study, design lesson plans, understand curriculum objectives, speak in front of groups, inspire interest, encourage learning, and evaluate performance.
A background check is required prior to beginning the program.
The job outlook for teachers is bright. Salaries in Missouri range from $32,450 to $61,200.
