sylvia-thompson-charitable-gift-aug-2016Trustees of the Sylvia G. Thompson Charitable Trust in August presented the fourth disbursement of a $705,000 pledge to the State Fair Community College Foundation in support of SFCC’s night/weekend nursing program. The money helps fund two faculty positions and one-half of an administrative assistant position for the program until 2018. The trust previously funded the expansion of the two-year nursing program with a contribution of $670,000.

Treuner, foundation executive director. The trust owns the Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center, 3333 W. 10th St., and just recently opened its new facility, the E.W. Thompson Health & Rehab Center, at 10th Street and Mitchell Road in Sedalia. This facility will provide Medicare-certified rehabilitative care, along with 36 rooms dedicated to dementia care.
