The Donald C. Proctor Library on the State Fair Community College Sedalia campus is now hosting a traveling scaled replica of Thomas Hart Benton’s Missouri State Capitol mural titled “A Social History of the State of Missouri.” This exhibit, which is making its way to various locations throughout Missouri, will be on display in the Proctor Library in Yeater Learning Center through the end of September. The community, students and staff are invited to view this free exhibit.

This exhibit provides a glimpse into Benton’s life and his role in American regionalism, showcasing his signature style and the stories he depicted. The core of the exhibit is a scaled replica of Benton’s mural, which portrays a historical narrative of Missouri, from its pioneer beginnings to the industrial 20th century. The exhibit also delves into Benton’s life and career, including his role in the regionalist movement and his contributions to American art.
