Athletic Awards Night
May 7, 2019, 6:30 pm-9:00 pm
The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Athletics Department will host the 2018-2019 Roadrunners All-Sports Awards at 6:30 p.m. on May 7 at the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center. SFCC fans will have an opportunity to hear from the coaches, as they recap their seasons and present team awards. The public is invited to attend. Refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the ceremony.
“This will be a great opportunity to honor our student-athletes for their accomplishments throughout the year both on and off of the fields and courts,” said Athletic Director Darren Pannier. “It will also be one of the few times throughout the year that all of our student-athletes will be together in the same room.”
The University of Central Missouri (UCM) Women’s Basketball Head Coach Dave Slifer will be the featured speaker for the event.
Slifer just finished his 15th season as the coach of the Jennies. He helped his team to a 25-7 record this season. Slifer led UCM to a National Championship during the 2017-2018 season, finishing with a 30-3 record. The Jennies snapped the 73 game winning streak of Ashland University in the National Championship Game.
At Central Missouri, Slifer has coached five WBCA All-Americans, two CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, as well as numerous All-Region players, a MIAA Player of the Year, a Defensive Player of the Year, and a Freshman of the Year. He has also coached five Academic All-District players and 62 MIAA Academic Honor Roll honorees.
Coach Slifer’s career record stands at 690-245. His career record at UCM is 306-146.
“We are honored to have Coach Dave Slifer speak at our event,” said Pannier. “Coach Slifer is very well respected in collegiate athletics. We are excited to have him be a part of our Athletic Awards Night.”
