The Daum Museum of Contemporary Art at State Fair Community College invites visitors to attend a free “Nevertheless, She Persisted” artist panel discussion and reception Saturday, August 16, at 2 p.m. in the Stauffacher Theatre. The reception will be 3-4 p.m. in the Daum Museum lobby.

The “Nevertheless, She Persisted” exhibit features the work from a group of women artists based in Springfield. This exhibition was created by women involved in Drury University’s Visual Arts program and has now grown to include female artists throughout the state of Missouri. The theme of this exhibit focuses on the challenges women artists face and their perseverance to continue creating art despite these challenges. This exhibit will close Sept. 7.

Other Daum exhibits include the following:

“Melior: Prints from the Collection” showcases a dynamic selection of contemporary prints from the Daum’s permanent collection, highlighting printmaking’s creative breadth and technical innovation. This exhibit will close Aug. 17.

“Bones, Blooms, and Biomes” bring together a selection of works from the Daum’s permanent collection that echo and expand upon themes explored by Georgia O’Keeffe. O’Keeffe’s legacy, often seen through a gendered lens, is reimagined through the voices of both female and male artists who engage with similar motifs across diverse media, eras, and cultural perspectives. From ceramic bones to lush floral forms and expansive landscapes, these works explore the emotional and symbolic resonance of the natural world, inviting viewers to reflect on how artists interpret the rhythm of life, death, and renewal. This exhibit will close Dec. 16.

“Spectrum” explores color as both a connective force and a human language. Drawing from the Daum collection, this exhibition brings together contemporary works that illuminate how color shapes not only what we see but also how we relate to space, to one another, and ourselves. This exhibit will close Dec. 16.

Opening on Sept. 18 will be two guest exhibitions by The Patrons and Lindsey Dunnagan.

The Daum Museum is open Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, contact (660) 530-5888 or visit www.daummuseum.org.
