Dr. Amie Breshears has resigned from State Fair Community College’s Board of Trustees to pursue other opportunities.
Dr. Breshears was elected to the Board of Trustees on April 5, 2022, and took the oath of office on April 14, 2022. Her term was scheduled to continue through April 2028.
During her service, Dr. Breshears brought extensive experience in education, community engagement and leadership to the board. She holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Missouri, an Education Specialist degree in Superintendency from the University of Central Missouri, an MBA from Drury University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Drury University.
Throughout her career, she has served as a Community Engagement Specialist in Agribusiness with University of Missouri Extension, a high school principal, elementary school principal, business teacher and banker. She has also served on the Warsaw School Board, the Benton County Health Department Board of Trustees, the Benton County Historical Society Board of Directors and the Benton County Youth Coalition Board of Directors.
Dr. Breshears has been a longtime supporter of SFCC. She served on the college’s 50th Celebration Committee and taught dual-credit business courses while working as a high school teacher.
“On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the entire State Fair Community College community, I want to thank Dr. Breshears for her years of service, leadership and dedication to the college,” said SFCC President Dr. Brent Bates. “She has done a wonderful job of representing our local taxpayers, especially those in Benton County. We appreciate her commitment to students, education and the communities we serve, and wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”
The board is accepting letters of interest from qualified individuals interested in serving the remainder of the unexpired term, which ends in April 2028. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and registered voters within the SFCC district, Missouri residents for at least one year and at least 21 years of age.
Interested individuals should submit a formal letter of interest outlining their qualifications and interest in serving the college. Letters may be submitted in person or by mail to the Office of the President, State Fair Community College, 3201 W. 16th St., Sedalia, MO 65301, or by email to SFCCBoard@sfccmo.edu.
Letters of interest must be received by 5 p.m. CDT July 20, 2026.
