Tom Knight, former athletic director at Smith-Cotton High School, proposed the idea for the shoot-out 17 years ago. SFCC hosted the first event in December 2001.

“Tom had the idea to bring in different teams for area schools to play against,” said Darren Pannier, SFCC athletic director. “I called the local high schools and asked them if they would play teams from outside their area, and many liked the idea. Thanks to our generous and faithful sponsors, we are able to provide student-athletes the chance to play basketball on a college campus.”
