Active Minds Club
Active Minds is a non-profit student run organization focused on changing the conversation
about mental health by promoting a positive sense of wellbeing and spreading awareness
about mental health among college students. Active Minds at SFCC will be dedicated
to eradicating the stigma surrounding mental health. It will seek to educate about
mental health and student wellbeing as well as provide resources to students by serving
as a liaison between students and the mental health community. It also will work with
faculty and staff on student feedback regarding campus wellness initiatives.
Active Minds at SFCC seeks to empower young adults to speak openly about mental health
to educate others and encourage them to seek help. The club seeks to change the culture
on campus and in the community by providing information, leadership opportunities
and advocacy training to the next generation.

Agriculture Organization
The Agriculture Organization promotes professionalism in agriculture occupations;
promotes and encourages leadership among post-secondary students of agriculture; promotes
patriotism and responsibility toward agriculture and the community; develops confidence
and ability among students of agriculture; promotes recognition of the value of post-secondary
vocational training in agriculture.

Creative Writing Club
The Creative Writing Club encourages student, faculty, and staff writers to explore
their ideas, voices, and creativity. We offer a place for feedback, guidance, and
possible publication of creative works in our literary journal. We promote creativity
and literacy across the campus community.

DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America)
DECA is a business student organization that is open to all SFCC students. SFCC DECA
is more than competitions, blazers, and medallions. Joining SFCC DECA is the first
step you can take toward achieving your goals and realizing your greatest potential.
Your membership in SFCC DECA provides you the opportunity to participate in Collegiate
DECA’s programs at the local, state, and international levels. You will enhance your
networking, public speaking, business, and other professional skills while making
memories that will last a lifetime.

Nursing Organization
State Fair Community College Nursing program’s mission is to promote growth of the
individual student to be caring and professional. SFCC’s Nursing program is dedicated
to upholding the college’s belief to enable students to develop their talents and
make a positive contribution to the community. The bi-level Nursing Organization provides
opportunities for students to develop organizational and leadership skills.

The purpose of Alpha Lambda Omega Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at State Fair Community

Science Club is for students who have an interest in a STEM (science, technology,

Student Government Association Organization
The State Fair Community College Student Government Association (SGA) is the official
voice of the student body in matters relating to the college’s administration. SGA
is a vital link in the college’s endeavors to ensure a positive learning environment
for the student body. Each year the organization plans a wide variety of programs
and activities designed to enhance campus life as well as support college-sponsored
programs. SGA provides many opportunities for leadership, including involvement at
the local, district and state levels of the organization. The SGA consists of the
Executive Board and Senators that serve as representatives who plan and carry out
the activities of the association. SGA is considered an important resource for both
students and staff.

The Student-Missouri State Teachers Association (S-MSTA) is the pre-professional organization
for education majors on Missouri college and university campuses.

TRiO Student Organization
The TRiO Student Club is for participants in the TRiO Student Support Services program.
The TRiO Student Club participates in campus activities, fundraising activities and
community events that encourage members to be involved and give back to the community.
The club also hosts events for TRiO students, including holiday parties and fundraising
activities that help eligible TRiO students with academic costs, such as certification
testing and honor society membership fees.

VIVID Club
The purpose of Vivid is to encourage acceptance within the diverse population of the
campus community, to create a place of support, respect, pride, and safety for LGBTQIA+
(lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, and more)
members of the student body; to work toward a more accepting environment for all people,
regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.
