Adult Education & Literacy

The Adult Literacy program helps students strengthen reading, writing and math skills, whether or not they have a high school diploma.

Students learn at their own pace through a combination of computer-assisted instruction, individual support and group learning. Whether you're working toward a High School Equivalency (HSE) certificate or simply want to improve foundational academic skills, our instructors will help you create a plan for success.

Ready to earn your High School Equivalency certificate? SFCC's HSE Preparation program provides the instruction, support and resources you need to prepare for and successfully complete the HSE exam.

Our experienced instructors help students improve reading, writing, math and computer skills while developing effective study habits and test-taking strategies. Instruction is offered in both individual and group settings within a welcoming and supportive learning environment.

After completing orientation and assessments, you'll receive a personalized learning plan focused on the skills you need most. We won't spend time reviewing skills you've already mastered.

SFCC's English Language Learner (ELL) program helps students improve their ability to speak, read and write in English.

Through interactive classroom instruction, one-on-one tutoring and a welcoming environment that celebrates cultural diversity, students develop the language skills needed for work, education and everyday life.

The program is especially valuable for individuals preparing for the U.S. citizenship examination or the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
