Counseling Services
You're Not Alone. We're Here to Support You.
College is an exciting time, but it can also bring new challenges. Adjusting to college life, balancing classes, building relationships, and managing everyday stress can sometimes feel overwhelming.
At State Fair Community College, your well-being matters. Counseling Services provides free, confidential support to help currently enrolled students navigate personal challenges, strengthen emotional well-being, and stay focused on their educational goals.
Whether you're feeling stressed, struggling with a life change, or simply need someone to talk to, we're here to listen and help.
Free Counseling for SFCC Students
Counseling Services offers free counseling sessions for currently enrolled SFCC students.
Our licensed clinical social worker provides a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you can talk openly about the challenges you're experiencing. Through compassionate listening and collaborative problem-solving, we'll help you identify strategies and resources that support your personal and academic success.
How Counseling Can Help
College comes with challenges, and you don't have to face them alone. Counseling Services provides a safe, supportive space where you can talk through personal, emotional, and academic concerns while developing strategies to help you succeed both in and out of the classroom.
Our counselor can help you navigate concerns such as:
- Adjusting to college life
- Stress management
- Test anxiety
- Self-esteem and self-confidence
- Relationship concerns
- Grief and loss
- Personal challenges affecting academic success
Through counseling, you can develop healthy coping strategies, build confidence and resilience, improve focus, strengthen relationships, and navigate life's challenges with greater confidence.
If you're unsure whether counseling is right for your situation, we encourage you to reach out. Seeking support is a sign of strength, and we're here to help you succeed every step of the way.
Personalized Support and Referrals
Sometimes additional support outside of SFCC may be the best option.
If ongoing or specialized care is recommended, our counselor can connect you with trusted off-campus providers or make a referral to the Central Methodist University Clinical Counseling Center located on the SFCC Sedalia campus.
Our goal is to help you find the support that best meets your needs.
Central Methodist University Clinical Counseling Center
Through a partnership with Central Methodist University (CMU), additional free counseling and emotional support services are available to SFCC students and employees during the fall and spring semesters.
Counseling is provided by graduate counseling interns from the CMU Clinical Counseling Program under the supervision of a licensed professional counselor.
Appointments are available by contacting CCCsedalia@centralmethodist.edu.
Appointment availability and office hours vary throughout the semester.
Take the First Step
Whether you're adjusting to college, managing stress, or facing a difficult situation, Counseling Services is here to support you every step of the way.
If you're a currently enrolled SFCC student, we encourage you to schedule a free counseling appointment and discover how talking with a counselor can help you thrive both personally and academically.
