If you are passionate about performance, storytelling, creativity, and collaboration, the Theatre program at SFCC can help you develop the skills needed for success both on stage and behind the scenes. Through coursework, productions, and hands-on experiences, you'll explore acting, technical theatre, stagecraft, and performance while building confidence, communication skills, and creative problem-solving abilities.

Whether you plan to transfer to a four-year theatre program or pursue opportunities in the performing arts, the Theatre program at SFCC provides a strong foundation for your next step. Students gain practical experience through multiple productions each year while working closely with faculty who are committed to helping them succeed. By graduation, active students develop a diverse theatre résumé, professional audition and interview experience, and the skills needed to continue their education or enter the field.

 

Gain hands-on experience through at least five productions each year, including plays, musicals, children's theatre, and student-directed performances.

  • Build performance and technical theatre skills through classroom instruction and production participation.

  • Enjoy opportunities for participation as a freshman or sophomore that are often unavailable at larger four-year institutions.

  • Explore opportunities in acting, directing, stage management, lighting, sound, costumes, scenery, and other technical theatre areas.
  • Participate in student-directed productions and creative leadership opportunities.
  • Perform and learn in the Stauffacher Theatre, featuring professional-quality lighting, fly systems, scene shop, costume facilities, and dressing rooms.
  • Experience flexible performance spaces in the Thompson O'Sullivan Studio Theatre, which supports a variety of staging and audience configurations.
  • Apply for acting and technical theatre scholarships that support your educational goals.
  • Participate in the American College Theatre Festival and gain opportunities for regional and national recognition.
  • Develop communication, critical-thinking, collaboration, leadership, and creative problem-solving skills that are valuable in theatre and beyond.
