Sedalia, Missouri – State Fair Community College invites the community to its 12th annual “Jingle on the Green” from 6-8 p.m. Dec. 5 on the Sedalia campus. The event is free, and parking will be available in all campus lots.

At 6 p.m., SFCC President Dr. Joanna Anderson and Board of Trustees Vice President Patty Wood will give a welcome and opening remarks in Yeater Learning Center lobby. The free celebration features thousands of luminarias, lavishly decorated trees, musical and play performances, desserts, art making, cookie decorating, games, and student and faculty technical demonstrations and displays.

The schedule of performances and activities is as follows:

Yeater Learning Center – 6:05 p.m. SFCC Jazz Choir, 6:30 p.m. Sacred Heart School Choir, 7 p.m. Boonville Choir, 7:30 p.m. SFCC Chamber Choir

Thompson O’Sullivan Studio Theatre, Yeater 126 – 6:30 and 7 p.m. “Every Christmas Story Ever Told (and Then Some)” teaser presentations by Liberty Center cast members for their upcoming performance.

Heckart Science and Allied Health Center, Sylvia L. Thompson Atrium – 6:30 p.m. Smith-Cotton Junior High School Choir, 7 p.m. California Choir, 7:30 p.m. Marshall Choir; Heckart Gerken Solarium – 6:15 p.m. Show Me Sound Chorus, 6:45 p.m. Versailles Choir, 7:15 p.m. Tipton Choir, 7:45 p.m. Lincoln Choir

Hopkins Student Services Center – 6:15 to 7 p.m. Sedalia Chamber Music Society Quintet; cookie decorating – 6:15-7 p.m. with Dr. Anderson; 7-8 p.m. with Rowdie and Frosty.

Davis Multipurpose Center – 6-8 p.m. Santa and his elves will visit with children; cookies and milk will be served

Festive desserts will be served in Stauffacher Center’s Parkhurst Student Commons, Daum Museum foyer, outside Thompson O’Sullivan Studio Theatre in Yeater, Heckart Center’s Olen Howard Discovery Corridor, and Fielding Technical Center hallway.

Arts and craft stations will be available throughout the evening in the Daum Museum of Contemporary Art foyer. In Fielding Technical Center, The LearningForce will offer a reindeer game, and Engineering and Design, Precision Tool, Welding and Industrial Technology students and faculty will conduct demonstrations that include a 20-minute “how to build a house” computer program, 3D snowflake ornament making, robotic displays and demonstrations. Christmas wreaths created by SFCC employees will be displayed in Stauffacher.

The Campus Store, by Parkhurst Student Commons in Stauffacher Center, will have a “Mitten Tree.” The store will collect mittens and hats of any size and donate them to local charities in observance of National Mitten Tree Day on Dec. 6. Anyone who donates will receive a special discount (up to 50% off) on select items in the store, which will close at 8 p.m.

Volunteers helping with the event include SFCC’s Radiology, Sonography, Nursing, and Agriculture, Spirit Squad and Softball students.

Other services have been provided by Great Western Dining Service Inc.; Fischer Concrete Services LLC; County Distributing Company Inc.; SFCC Industrial Maintenance and Precision Machining Technology programs; SFCC Music Arts students; SFCC Facilities Management, Marketing and Communications; Daum Museum of Contemporary Art staff and volunteers for the creative art-making projects; Polly Grapes, Campus Store director, who decorates the trees; and Dr. Christopher Kindle, Music Arts program coordinator and instructor, who coordinates the music performances.
