Sedalia, Missouri – State Fair Community College’s The LearningForce will offer a no-cost boater safety course 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at 3797 Osage Beach Parkway on the SFCC-Lake of the Ozarks campus. Pre-enrollment is required because seating is limited. There will be a one-hour lunch break.

All operators born after Jan. 1, 1984, must have a Missouri Boating Safety Certification card to operate legally a motorized vessel or personal watercraft on any Missouri lake. Anyone can take this free Missouri approved boater education course but must be able to follow the course material and understand the content. Missouri law states boat operators must be 14 years of age unless accompanied by an adult. Operators under the age of 14 years with adult supervision still need to obtain a boater education card.

This course is approved by the Missouri State Highway Patrol–Water Patrol Division and uses high-definition videos and comprehensive boating safety instruction to prepare participants to pass the boater safety exam. The Water Patrol Division charges $15 for the boater safety card. A local marine operations trooper will conduct this class.
