State Fair Community College (SFCC) on Wednesday, Feb. 5, will recognize the people who keep our communities and nation safe at Public Safety and Military Night at the Fred, in the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center on the SFCC Sedalia campus during a NJCAA Region 16 basketball matchup with Three Rivers Community College. The men’s and women’s games are at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
This event celebrates public safety and the military and highlights SFCC programs that support them. People who work in public safety, the military and their families will receive free tickets to the games and a concession stand voucher. During breaks during the games, SFCC will highlight the significance of this work, and recognize faculty and students in related programs.
“Our communities are a safe place to live and to work thanks to these public servants – law enforcement officers, firefighters, paramedics and EMTs, and members of our Armed Forces,” said SFCC President Dr. Brent Bates. “Public Safety and Military Night at the Fred is one way we can recognize these public servants.
SFCC has training programs in Criminal Justice and Fire Science. In addition, the college has a campus at Whiteman Air Force Base and administers Veteran’s educational benefits and support at all of its campuses.
SFCC staff have contacted people who work in public safety and the military to arrange for the free tickets, but if you would like to make sure your group is on the list, contact the president’s office at 660.596.7251 or loesterly@sfccmo.edu.
The remaining Industry/ Community Nights at the Fred include Healthcare on Wednesday, Feb. 12, and Education and Manufacturing/Transportation on Saturday, March 1.
