SEDALIA—State Fair Community College plans to conduct a phone survey of patrons in its taxing district to gather opinions about the college.

Researchers with Kansas City-based Market Research Associates will begin calling residents of Pettis and Benton counties and the Otterville school district May 23. The survey will focus on these residents because they live in the college’s taxing district even though its service area covers 14 counties.

The 10- to 15-minute survey was designed by Patron Insight Inc., the consulting firm with which SFCC is working to help gather data to implement the college’s campus master plan, which was presented in May 2015. The survey asks opinions about a variety of agencies that serve the area to gauge awareness of SFCC’s operations and to discern attitudes about the college’s plans to improve facilities to enhance its programs and learning environment.

“This survey is a great opportunity for SFCC to hear opinions about our performance and what our priorities should be for the future,” said Dr. Joanna Anderson, SFCC president. “To make sure we continue to meet the changing needs of our students and other stakeholders, we need to know what our patrons think about SFCC and its future growth.”

Participants will be selected at random, and all responses will be kept confidential. Calls will usually be made from 7-9 p.m. weekdays and noon to 6 p.m. on Saturdays. The caller ID may show “Market Research Associates” or an 816 or 913 area code.

“We really want to hear from the people we serve,” said Anderson. “We hope that when the phone rings, people will take a few minutes to think about the college and respond to the survey.”
