Sedalia, Missouri – Feb. 12, 2021 – State Fair Community College’s Registered Nursing program has again been recognized as the #1 rated program in Missouri for 2021 by RegisteredNursing.org, a nursing advocacy organization.

Nursing programs are assessed on several factors that represent how well a program supports students toward licensure and beyond. RegisteredNursing.org analyzes past and present first time NCLEX-RN pass-rates weighted by year. The NCLEX-RN exam is used by all state boards of nursing across the United States to help assess a student’s competency and is required for licensure, which is why RegisteredNursing.org has chosen exam results as a factor in ranking programs.

RegisteredNursing.org believes in providing students with all the information possible to assist them in making the right choice when selecting a nursing school. This is the fifth year RegisteredNursing.org has published rankings. The 2021 Missouri rankings can be found at https://www.registerednursing.org/state/missouri/#top.

“Again, I congratulate our outstanding, hardworking students, faculty and staff,” said Dr. Rhonda Hutton Gann, SFCC Health Sciences dean. “It is an honor to receive RegisteredNursing’s top ranking in Missouri for the third time. I believe it is a testimony to our strong commitment to student success that has been developed and improved over the years by former and current faculty and staff, our partnering healthcare systems and supportive administration. This is a tradition we want to maintain to ensure our students become the best nurses.”

SFCC’s competency-based bi-level program prepares students to meet the requirements to become a licensed practical nurse (Year One), then transition seamlessly to associate degree nursing (Year Two) if the goal is to become a registered nurse. Those who are already certified LPNs or paramedics can apply to the Year Two program.

SFCC’s Nursing program is approved by the Missouri State Board of Nursing (MSBN). At the completion of Year One, students apply to the MSBN for the NCLEX-PN licensure exam for practical nursing. After Year Two is completed, students apply to the MSBN to take the NCLEX-RN licensure exam for registered nursing. Completion of these programs does not guarantee eligibility to take the licensure exams.

Program admission is competitive and class size is limited. Additional information and applications are available at sfccmo.edu/nursing. There is no cost to apply.
