SEDALIA—State Fair Community College is now enrolling for its Certified Medication Technician (CMT) online course that starts Oct. 19 and ends Dec. 16.

Enrollment will open Oct. 24 for spring semester CMT courses, as well as Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) and Phlebotomy courses that begin Jan. 9. The courses are offered online, and clinicals are held at various locations.

CMT and CNA courses are part of SFCC’s Health Care Specialist Nurse Aide program. The program provides a variety of stackable certificates and degrees to help students move up the career ladder one step at a time.

A CMT administers oral or inhalation medications in long-term care facilities and assists with medication therapy. CNAs work closely with nurses and the health care team.

The program also includes a Professional Certificate and an Associate of Applied Science degree; each includes additional courses plus all courses required for the certificate or degree leading to it.

The Phlebotomy course is a six-hour online course that prepares students to obtain blood and other specimens for lab analysis in hospitals, clinics, physicians’ offices, and other health care settings. Students also may be eligible for national certification as phlebotomy technicians.
