SEDALIA—State Fair Community College will offer Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) and Certified Medication Technician (CMT) courses this fall. Both are part of SFCC’s Health Care Specialist Nurse Aide program.
A Certified Nurse Assistant works closely with the healthcare team, must have a strong grasp of emergency procedures and be able to observe a patient’s condition and report that information back to a nurse.
A Certified Medication Technician works in long-term care facilities, administers non-parenteral (oral or by inhalation) medications and assists RNs or LPNs with medication therapy.
Both courses are offered online and on-ground; clinicals are held at various locations. Fall eight- and 16-week classes begin Aug. 24.
There are numerous career options within the health care industry; SFCC’s Health Care Specialist with emphasis in Nurse Aide program is designed as a career ladder to provide a quality education with several options.
