State Fair Community College Nursing students from left, Sheree Sherrill, Windsor, Marina Seaton, Sedalia, and Angie Koll, Lincoln, won a team silver medal (second place) in postsecondary team competition in the Health Knowledge Bowl at the SkillsUSA’s 51st National Leadership and Skills Conference June 22-26 in Louisville, Kentucky. Not pictured is Breana Evans, Appleton City, who was unable to attend but competed at the state level, which qualified the team to compete at nationals. The students graduated in June from the Year One (LPN) program in SFCC’s Associate Degree nursing program. To be eligible to compete at nationals, the students had to win both regional and state competitions. SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization serving teachers, high school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations, including health occupations. Dr. Rhonda Hutton Gann is associate dean of Allied Health at SFCC.
