SEDALIA—State Fair Community College Roadrunners Head Baseball Coach Jud Kindle has announced the addition of Nick Petree as the part-time assistant pitching coach for the Roadrunners.

“Nick brings a ton of information from his professional baseball experience with the St. Louis Cardinals,” said Kindle. “He’ll use that knowledge to build our players’ pitching skills at SFCC.”

Petree, a Clinton native, also has collegiate coaching experience. In 2016 he was an assistant coach in the Show Me Collegiate Summer League and conducted practices and suggested pitching corrections throughout the games.

Petree was drafted in the ninth round by the Cardinals in 2013 and pitched in the minor league Double A system until 2015. He was the opening-day starter for the minor league team in 2015 but retired that year due to an injury.

Petree was a starting pitcher for the Bears at Missouri State University (MSU) in Springfield from 2010-2013. He was a three-time All-American and was named the 2012 Louisville Slugger National Player of the Year. He also was a three-time member of the MSU Athletic Director’s Honor Roll. From 2015-2016, he coached first base as a student assistant coach and worked under pitching coach Paul Evans.

Petree is working on a Bachelor of Science degree in General Business at MSU.
