Sedalia, Missouri  April 20, 2022  The State Fair Community College Music Arts program will present the President’s Concert on April 26 in Stauffacher Theatre on the Sedalia campus. This year the Music Arts program decided it would be a good time to permanently change the name of this event from the Retrospect Concert to the President’s Concert in honor of Dr. Joanna Anderson, SFCC president, who will be retiring the end of June.

A reception of light desserts will be held 6:45-7:15 p.m. while the SFCC Jazz Ensemble performs. The concert will follow the reception. The event is free; seating will be first come, first served.

SFCC Music Arts program coordinator and instructor Dr. Christopher Kindle will direct the Jazz and Chamber choirs. Gwen Kappelman will be the accompanist, and Russ Schupp will be the percussionist. The Jazz Choir will perform upbeat jazz tunes such as “Feeling Good” and “You Make Me Feel So Young.” The Chamber Choir will perform a variety of songs from the free-spirited “Come Travel with Me” to classical compositions such as “O Quam Gloriosum.”

SFCC instructor Andrew Fischer will direct the Concert Band. The performance features “Dawn of a New Day,” “River of Life,” “On a Hymsong of Philip Bliss,” and “Sparks.”

The Chamber Choir and Concert Band will join to conclude the President’s Concert with “God Bless the U.S.A” by Mark Brymer and Roger Holmes.
