SFCC ag students at ag conference
SFCC agriculture students, instructors and staff attended the Missouri PAS conference Nov. 11-13 in St. Louis. SEDALIA—State Fair Community College students won honors at the Missouri Post-secondary Agriculture Students (PAS) conference Nov. 11-13 in St. Louis.

A total of 32 SFCC agriculture students attended. They competed in a variety of contests designed to develop skills required by employers in the agriculture industry, attended workshops, listened to guest speakers, participated in mock interviews, and toured area industries such as Monsanto Research and Anheuser-Busch and other local attractions.

Contest results included:

· Career Planning—Martha Cowherd, Blackburn, first place, Ag Management and Marketing Systems; Weston Cannon, Green Ridge, third place, Plant Systems

· Career Progress—Kristina Marcum, Knob Noster, third place, Ruminant Animal Systems; Ciara Day, Bunceton, second place, and Ryan Voss, Iberia, third place, Non-Ruminant animal Systems; Jonathan Brandes, Prairie Home, third place, Plant Systems

· Employment interviews—Ethan Daehler, Higginsville, third place, Agriculture Equipment; Landon Adams, Holden, second place, Agribusiness Administration; Taylor McCain, Lincoln, first place, Agribusiness Sales; Austin Vandiver, Linn Creek, first place, and John Key, Knob Noster, second place, Livestock Production; and Kaitlyn Tomblinson, Barnett, first place, Floriculture

· Career Specialist Contests—Savannah Hudson, Sedalia, third place, Dairy; Ciara Day, Bunceton, second place, Equine; Sam Sudbrock, Centralia, third place, Floriculture; Tracy Lawson, Eldon, first place, and Ryan Voss, Iberia, third place, Livestock; Alexandra England, Rocky Mount, first place, Austin Vandiver, Linn Creek, second place, and Ethan Daehler, Higginsville, third place, Soils; and Erin Robinson, Cole Camp, second place, and Kimberly Turpin, Syracuse, third place, Agriculture Education

· College Bowl—SFCC College Bowl Team A, second place. Members were Landon Adams, Holden; Austin Vandiver, Linn Creek; Jamie Buck, Gardner, Kansas; Cody Wolfe, Pilot Grove; and Erin Robinson, Cole Camp.

Ryan Voss was elected Missouri PAS parliamentarian, and sponsor Brad Driskill was awarded an honorary membership by the Missouri PAS Officer Team.
