State Fair Community College Developmental English Instructor Kaley Hobbs has received the April Mentor of the Month award given by the college’s Alpha Lambda Omega chapter of Phi Theta Kappa honor society. The award recognizes faculty and staff who have positively influenced students through their advising, guidance and support.

A student who nominated Hobbs wrote, “She goes above and beyond to make her students succeed. Before I took her class, I did not know much about writing, but by the end I felt confident writing papers.”

Students and employees can submit nominees to Phi Theta Kappa officers who select the winners. Phi Theta Kappa is a worldwide honor society with chapters in more than 1,300 two-year colleges.
