Making a college decision is hard. Lots of deciding factors go into the decision. For instance, choosing a major, worrying about costs, location, school atmosphere, extracurricular activities and athletics, and if you want to attend a university or a community college.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

There are advantages and disadvantages to both a university and a community college. Sometimes, community colleges get the short end of the stick<\/span> by being labeled junior colleges<\/span>.<\/span> Some people believe that the education received from a community college is not as high quality as what is received from universities.<\/span> This couldn\u2019t be further from the truth! Community college education is just as valuable and hard earned as university education. <\/span>Community colleges are great for people who want to enter the workforce after graduation and<\/span> <\/span>for those who want to earn a bachelor\u2019s degree. <\/span>Many community <\/span>college<\/span>s<\/span> make<\/span> it easy to transition to a university<\/span> by partnering with several four-year colleges. <\/span>I have compiled a short list on <\/span>why <\/span>c<\/span>ommunity <\/span>c<\/span>ollege is a great<\/span> <\/span>choice for <\/span>higher education<\/span>.<\/span> <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

  1.  AFFORDABLE QUALITY EDUCATION<\/span><\/b> 
    \nCommunity colleges are a great <\/span>and affordable option. <\/span>They<\/span> strive to give a high-quality education at an affordable cost. <\/span>Most <\/span>offer several financial aid opportunities such as <\/span>scholarships, grants, student employment, and loans. Eligible Missouri resident students can use their A+ scholarship<\/span> at community colleges<\/span>. High school students can save money and take dual-credit courses through <\/span>most community colleges<\/span>.<\/span> Some colleges<\/span> offer<\/span> the<\/span> Fast Track Workforce Incentive Grant which helps adults pursue high-need certificate and degrees.<\/span> As you can see, there are many options available to make it easy<\/span> to<\/span> graduate debt-free from a community college.<\/span> <\/span>
    \n    <\/li>\n
  2.  WIDE RANGE OF DEGREE OPTIONS<\/span><\/b> 
    \n<\/span>Contrary to the popular belief, many community colleges offer more than a general education.<\/span> Several have<\/span> certificate and degree programs and<\/span> are continuously searching to fill any workforce needs in <\/span>their<\/span> communities. <\/span>Community colleges<\/span> make it easy to transition into the workforce or go on to earn a bachelor’s degree after graduation. <\/span>Community college education can <\/span>range from health sciences, agriculture, automotive technology, welding, engineering, music and art, and m<\/span>uch<\/span> more.<\/span> Do your research on areas of study when making a college decision.<\/span> <\/span>

  3.  ON-CAMPUS HOUSING
    \n<\/span><\/b>Many people choose to go t<\/span>he <\/span>university<\/span> route<\/span> \u201cto get the full college experience\u201d which entails living on campus. However, community colleges<\/span> want to give you the best college experience possible<\/span>,<\/span> so many of them offer on-campus housing.<\/span> On-campus living is great because it allows you to meet new people, make new friends, and stay connected with activities happening on campus.<\/span> <\/span>

  4.  ATHLETIC PROGRAMS<\/span><\/b> 
    \n<\/span>Several community colleges have athletic programs. This is great for those who want to continue their passion for sports past high school and for those who hope to play for a university. What makes community <\/span>college athletics unique, is<\/span> that the programs<\/span> ha<\/span>ve<\/span> coaches and staff that care about <\/span>their players<\/span> and want the best for <\/span>their<\/span> athletic career. <\/span>It\u2019s common for community college<\/span> coaches<\/span> to<\/span> stay in touch with athletes after they gradua<\/span>te<\/span>, another special perk of attending a community college; staff and faculty that truly care! <\/span> <\/span>

  5.  STAFF AND FACULTY WHO CARE<\/span><\/b>
    \n<\/span>Community college education is special because they have faculty and staff who truly care about <\/span>each and every<\/span> student. Community college faculty and staff want to help you along your college journey and even keep up with you after you graduate. It brings <\/span>them<\/span> joy to see you thrive and grow throughout your time at <\/span>college<\/span>. <\/span>During your college journey, never hesitate to ask staff and faculty any questions you have as I\u2019m sure they\u2019ll be more than happy to help.<\/span> <\/span>

  6.  HIGH QUALITY TECHNOLOGY AND EQUIPMENT<\/span><\/b> 
    \n<\/span>A huge perk of community colleges is that you get to jump right into the hands-on learning instead of having to sit in a huge lecture hall before getting to learn the skill you\u2019re interested in. The <\/span>hands-on <\/span>learning<\/span> that community colleges offe<\/span>r<\/span> re<\/span>quire<\/span> up-to-date equipment <\/span>in order to<\/span> fully prepare<\/span> their students<\/span> to enter the workforce after graduation.<\/span> Most campuses will <\/span>have <\/span>student accessible <\/span>computer labs and <\/span>study spots for students<\/span>. <\/span>Community colleges stay active in their communities and<\/span> work with local businesses<\/span> to <\/span>make sure to stay up to date in each industry.<\/span> <\/span>

  7.  SMALL CLASS SIZE<\/span><\/b> 
    \n<\/span>A huge advantage to community college education is that it offers small class sizes. Small classes are beneficial to students as it allows for a one-on-one relationship wi<\/span>th instructors, which in turn makes it easier to get help on assignments and in-class projects. Small class sizes make it easier to interact with peers and instructors during class, which helps students soak in and comprehend information each class period. In a small class, you\u2019ll be able to engage with all classmates which will make it easier to reach out for further help on assignments and studying.<\/span> <\/span>

  8.  CAMPUS LOCATION OPTIONS<\/span><\/b> 
    \n<\/span>A lot of community colleges have many locations <\/span>as a way to<\/span> make higher education geographically accessible at an affordable cost. Most have online options as well. <\/span> <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Make sure to do your research on every college you\u2019re interested in when making a college choice. Don\u2019t forget to schedule tours and step foot on the campuses you\u2019re interested in. You\u2019ll know without a doubt which college will be your perfect future home. Community colleges are there to <\/span>help give you a quality education at an affordable cost, all while giving you a full college experience. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n
