\"\"<\/a>Online classes can go one of two ways: <\/span>be <\/span>super intimidating or an easy responsibility to blow off. <\/span>Don\u2019t let either of these happen to y<\/span><\/b>ou!<\/span><\/b> Pick the secret third option and be prepared to succeed through your online classes. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Online classes aren\u2019t anything to be intimidated about. It\u2019s the same as an on<\/span>–<\/span>ground class, <\/span>the only difference is you get to stay at home <\/span>in your PJs<\/span>!<\/span> Follow these tips to<\/span> stay <\/span>successful<\/span> and<\/span> conquer your online classes.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

  1.  KNOW YOUR RESOURCES<\/span><\/b> 
    \nKnow what resources <\/span>ar<\/span>e available to you. To learn about SFCC resources that<\/span> are available during<\/span> this time<\/span>, read our first blog post<\/span>, <\/span>    SFCC Resources<\/span><\/b><\/a>. There are tons of apps and websites available to students to help them <\/span>during their education<\/span>al<\/span> journey.<\/span> Here are a few<\/span>: <\/span>Quizlet<\/span><\/b>.com<\/span><\/b>, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, Canvas<\/span><\/b>.com<\/span><\/b>, <\/span><\/b>EasyBi<\/span><\/b>b<\/span><\/b>.com, <\/span><\/b>StudyBlue.com, <\/span><\/b>and PaperRater.com<\/span><\/b> 
    \n      <\/li>\n
  2.  CREATE A GOOD WORKSPACE<\/span><\/b> 
    \n<\/span>We know it\u2019s easy to get cozy on the couch with your laptop and coffee, but let\u2019s be real<\/span> \u2026 <\/span>where does that lead you? Napping at 2 p.m. in the afternoon<\/span>!<\/span> That\u2019s why i<\/span>t\u2019s extremely important to distinguish a <\/span>specific workspace <\/span><\/b>in your home, so you know it\u2019s time to get down to business when you\u2019re in that spot. <\/span>You<\/span><\/i>r<\/span><\/i> workspace should be organized, have good lighting, strong internet connec<\/span><\/i>tion, be close to a power outlet, and lastly be somewhere you\u2019re not easily distracted.<\/span><\/i> 
    \n<\/span>    <\/li>\n
  3.  SET GOALS AND KNOW YOUR EXPECTATIONS<\/span><\/b> 
    \n<\/span>It may to be more difficult to stay motivated in an online class v<\/span>ersus<\/span> a<\/span> face-to-face class. Therefore, you need to set goals and know your expectations from the start of your online class. Tell yourself you\u2019re going to stay motivated, on top of all your deadlines, and make a point to <\/span>be interactive<\/span><\/b> in your classes. Just because it\u2019s an online course doesn\u2019t mean you can\u2019t communicate and create a relationship <\/span>with<\/span> your peers and instructor<\/span>s<\/span>. Take it upon yourself to i<\/span>ntroduce yourself to your peers and instructors<\/span><\/b> via<\/span> email, direct message, or group chats. <\/span>Set goals for each class.<\/span><\/b> These can include what grade you want to receive at the end of the course or maybe on a specific assignment, <\/span>how long you plan to study for a test, reaching your deadlines early, etc.<\/span> Don\u2019t forget to <\/span>reward yourself<\/span><\/b> when reaching your goals.<\/span> Lastly, always <\/span>seek help when needed<\/span><\/b>. Your instructors and navigators are there to help.<\/span> 
    \n<\/span><\/span>     <\/li>\n
  4.  STAY ORGANIZED WITH A DAILY ROUTINE<\/span><\/b>Being online for the rest of the semester makes it <\/span>very tempting<\/span><\/b> to stay up all night, sleep during the day and spend only a small portion of time on course work. <\/span>Stay strong <\/span><\/b>and stray away from these temptations! <\/span>Don\u2019t procrastinate!<\/span><\/b> Set a daily routine<\/span><\/b> that stays in line with y<\/span>our regular routine. <\/span>Wake up <\/span><\/b>at a decent time and<\/span> plan <\/span>for<\/span> how long you<\/span>‘re going<\/span> to study and work on assignments. <\/span>Make sure to include time for eating, breaks and hobbies in your daily routine. <\/span>Your <\/span>mental health is very important<\/span><\/b> and will navigate how you decide to complete your online courses. <\/span>Fi<\/span>gure out what <\/span>daily plan strategy <\/span><\/b>works best for you<\/span>. Maybe you\u2019re a list maker<\/span>, a calendar writer, or maybe you like to put sticky notes everywhere. Whatever it may be, strategize and stay on top of it. Canvas offers a calendar feature that automatically inputs your assignments and allows you to insert your own ca<\/span>lendar events.<\/span>

  5.  ELIMINATE DIST<\/span><\/b>RACTIONS AND LIMIT SOCIAL MEDIA<\/span><\/b>
    \n<\/span>During <\/span>the<\/span> study hours you\u2019ve set aside, be sure to eliminate any distractions. Including the <\/span>television, phone, loud noises, playful pets, etc.<\/span><\/b> You will get the most out of your study time and use it more effectively without any distractions. While taking short breaks in the day, be sure to monitor your time spent on social media. It is easy to lose track of time and keep scrolling. <\/span> <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Overall, you are taking these online courses for your benefit and the only way you\u2019ll truly benefit and learn from them is if you <\/span>PLAN YOUR WORK AND WORK YOUR PLAN<\/span><\/b>! <\/span>YOU.  CAN.  DO.  THIS. <\/span><\/p>\n
