<\/a><\/h2>\nRemote Operations<\/h2>\n
SFCC will make every effort to continue services and learning when conditions are not favorable for commuting, such as inclement weather, road conditions, etc. In 2021, SFCC implemented Remote Operations, a condition in which the college”s physical campus(es) would be closed and inaccessible to students and most employees. When the conditions such as inclement weather occur, the college will shift to Remote Operations, where all classes will meet in alternate channels depending on the instructor, subject, etc.<\/p>\n
The course syllabi should contain information about the methods a course will use while in Remote Operations such as, video-conferencing, web-based instruction, or other arrangements set up by the instructor.<\/p>\n
Students in programs with clinical work, are encouraged to contact the clinical site as Remote Operations will not affect the expectations of the clinical site or their course instructor. However, certain conditions like inclement weather might. When dealing with potential exceptions, students are always advised to contact their instructors and clinical site(s).<\/p>\n
Campus Services and operations are expected to continue without disruption to services. Offices and departments will shift work to remote locations and continue working. This will apply to most college faculty and staff. Those individuals may be accessible via email, telephone, and video conference. <\/p>\n
Closing a Campus<\/h2>\n
SFCC does not build in \u201csnow days\u201d during an academic year, so the decision to close a campus is not made lightly. When deciding to close in the event of inclement weather, we carefully consider these factors:<\/p>\n
\n- Safety of the campus, including condition of parking lots and sidewalks<\/li>\n
- Availability of snow removal services<\/li>\n
- Condition of area roads and highways based on information from county and state officials<\/li>\n
- Severity and duration of the weather conditions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
We monitor factors that may warrant cancellations or closures. Our number one concern is the safety of our students, employees and visitors, whether they are on an SFCC campus or traveling to a campus during winter weather conditions.<\/p>\n
Depending on the above factors and developing weather conditions, we may make an announcement by 9 p.m. for the next day\u2019s day\/evening classes, but all decisions will be announced by 5:30 a.m. the day of day\/evening classes<\/strong>.<\/p>\nIf day classes are in session and conditions warrant closing and canceling evening classes<\/strong> (defined as starting at 5 p.m. or later), we will announce a decision by 3 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\nThis applies to all campus locations any day of the week. Any events, internally or externally sponsored, will also be canceled.<\/strong><\/p>\nDay and evening cancellation decisions on Saturday and Sunday will be made independently. For example, day events on the weekend may be canceled by the standard 5:30 a.m. announcement time, but evening events may go on as planned if snow removal can occur in time. If a weekend evening event needs to be canceled, an announcement will be made by 3 p.m.<\/p>\n

While on campus during winter conditions, you should dress appropriately, wear proper winter footwear and take precautions when moving about the campus. If you are unable to get to campus, please notify your instructor or supervisor.<\/p>\n
Please note that decisions to cancel classes or close campus locations may occur at different times due to changing weather conditions, facility issues or external factors. Closing the Sedalia campus does not necessarily mean extended campus locations will be closed and vice versa.<\/p>\n
