To be eligible for the program you must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- First-Generation Student: If neither parent nor guardian graduated with a bachelor’s degree from a four-year institution, you are considered a first-generation college student. If you were raised by only one parent or guardian who did not have a bachelor’s degree, you also are considered first generation. Even if a parent has associate degrees or lacks only one course for a bachelor’s degree, you are still considered a first-generation college student.
- Low Income: Federal guidelines for taxable income set at 1.5 times the national poverty level determine the income status for your family.
- Disability: If you have a learning or physical disability documented with SFCC’s Disability Resource Center or the Missouri Vocational Rehabilitation office.
Eligible students must demonstrate their ability to benefit from services through appropriate test scores or courses completed. They also must plan to graduate from SFCC and transfer to a four-year institution. Federal guidelines require that two-thirds of participants qualify as low income and first generation or be a student with a disability. One-third of participants with disabilities must also be low-income status.
