At a lunch hosted by Ron Ditzfeld in May, Clint Bowyer, NASCAR driver for the Stewart-Haas Racing No. 14 Ford Fusion, visited with high school students in the State Fair Career and Technology Center’s (CTC) Precision Machining program, as well as with instructors and community members. Bowyer has won 16 point-paying races and five poles (2009-2016). Last fall, the Gene Haas Foundation donated $40,000 to State Fair Community College’s Precision Machining program to provide scholarships, update tools and support ongoing national accreditation from the National Institute for Metalworking Skills Inc. Bowyer (center) shared with the students that technology careers are wide open with many opportunities that start with education. With the students were Eric Rehmer, left, CTC instructor and Justin Wright, second from the right, SFCC instructor.
