State Fair Community College’s The LearningForce will offer these professional and enrichment courses in March.

Yogalates class

  • Yoga classes will meet from 4-5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays starting March 1 for six sessions in Hopkins Student Center, Room 714. Class will not be held on March 6, 20 and 22. Students should wear comfortable clothes and bring a mat or rug. Cost is $29; Irene Renauld is the instructor.
  • Yogalates, a fusion of yoga and Pilates, will meet from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays for six sessions starting March 1 in Hopkins Student Center, Room 714. Class will not be held March 6, 20 and 22. This class offers stretching and strengthening of all major muscles and calms the mind and spirit. Students should wear comfortable clothes and bring a mat. Cost is $29; Sue Guffin is the instructor.
  • PIYO, a combination of Pilates, yoga and nonstop movement, will meet from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays starting March 5 for six sessions in Hopkins Student Center, Room 714. Class will not be held on March 19 and 22. This low-impact, music-driven, body-sculpting workout strengthens muscles, increases flexibility and improves balance and mobility. Cost is $29; Kim Windle is the instructor.

A 15 percent discount is applied if enrolling in three or more yoga, Yogalates or PIYO sessions at the same time prior to the start of class.

Commercial Driving Academy

  • Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A Truck Driving Academy is a four-week program designed to train new truck drivers how to drive, the rules and regulations of the road and how to keep driving logs. It includes about 40 hours of classroom time and 160 hours of driving time. Students must have a CDL permit and pass drug and health screenings before starting. Programs begin monthly; the next one begins March 5 in Fielding Technical Center, Room 245. Upon completion, students will be prepared to earn a Class A CDL.   • Weaving on a Water Bottle is a new class that will meet from 6-8 p.m. on March 7 in Fielding Technical Center, Room 253. This class introduces the art of weaving for those who do not want to spend money on a loom and all the supplies. Tools and materials will be provided to create a small pouch-style bag perfect for a cell phone, money, credit cards, or personal items. Cost is $39; DeAnna Amos is the instructor.
  • Sign Language I is a new class that will meet from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesdays for eight sessions that start March 7 in Fielding Technical Center, Room 209. Class will not be held on March 21. This basic course will acquaint students with the manual alphabet and Signing Exact English (SEE) to develop conversation skills. Cost is $119; Marsha Campe is the instructor.
  • Advanced Country Line Dance will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Thursdays for seven sessions that start March 15 in Hopkins Center, Room 714. Class will not be held on March 22. This class is for participants with previous line dance experience or consent of the instructor. Dances taught include San Antonio Stroll, Wild Stallion, Miss Incredible and other current dances. Cost is $59; Mary Donnell-Brown is the instructor.
  • Advanced Country Western Dance will meet from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesdays for seven sessions that start March 27 in Hopkins Center, Room 714. This course is a continuation of Beginning Country Western Dance and for those who are familiar with the basic steps and turns. Dances taught include Two-Step and Waltz, Night Club Two-Step, West Coast Swing, and other couple dances. Participants may attend alone or with a partner; however, a partner is recommended to learn the turns and twirls. Smooth-soled shoes are recommended. Cost is $49 per person; Mary Donnell-Brown and Travis Goosen are the instructors.
  • Online Medical Assisting Review course will begin March 26. This course is for students who have at least one year of medical assistant experience and who are able to dedicate a few hours each week to study in preparation for the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant credentialing exam. Cost is $200; Jill Semau, an experienced Medical Assistant and educator, is the instructor.
  • Introduction to Foundation Piecing will meet from 5:30-9:30 p.m. March 28 in Davis Multipurpose Center, Room 119. Foundation piecing or paper piecing, as many quilters call it, is an old technique that has regained popularity because of its accuracy. For this new four-hour class, participants will need to bring a sewing machine, cutting mat, rotary cutter, and ruler to class. Fabric requirements and advanced cutting instructions will be sent to the participants by registration deadline, which is March 14. Cost is $39; Pamela Young is the instructor.
  • Theatre of the Mind is a new class that will meet from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturdays for four sessions that start March 31 in Fielding Technical Center, Room 253. Participants will “gather around the radio” to explore the great shows of Radio’s Golden Age from 1932 to 1947. Personalities and programs such as “Jack Benny,” “Fibber McGee and Molly,” “The Lone Ranger,” “Superman,” “War of the Worlds,” and “The Shadow,” will be featured topics. Class interaction as well as hands-on techniques used for sound effects simulated in radio broadcasts will be entertaining and informative. Topics will include the effect of radio in World War II, vintage radio commercials, and weekly presentations of original radio comedies, dramas, suspense, sports, and serials will appeal to people of all ages. Cost is $39; Rick Langdon is the instructor.
