SEDALIA—Kansas City Power and Light (KCP&L) has installed six electric vehicle charging stations on the State Fair Community College Sedalia campus for public use.

Three are located in the Fielding Technical Center parking lot adjacent to Clarendon Road, and three are located in the parking area near the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center on 16th Street.

The installations are part of KCP&L’s Clean Charge Network of more than 1,000 charging stations. According to KCP&L’s website, it is the first and largest electric vehicle charging installation by an electric utility company in the United States.

To use the charging stations, electric vehicle drivers need to sign up for a free Clean Network card at kcpl.com/cleancharge. Those who sign up will receive two cards in the mail that can be swiped to activate any of the stations. There is no fee now to use the stations, but sometime in 2017 KCP&L plans to begin charging a fee.

Other KCP&L charging stations in Sedalia are located in the parking lots of City Hall, 200 S. Osage, and Walmart, 3201 W. Broadway.
