An elegant evening of fine dining, live music, dancing, surprise performances, and a live auction have been planned for the State Fair Community College Foundation’s Golden Gala March 30 in the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center on the Sedalia campus.

The event is open to the public and begins at 6 p.m. It will feature cocktails, “golden drinks” and appetizers; dinner at 7 p.m. and a dessert dash; a live auction, the Diamond Empire Band and dancing. Jim Shoemaker, who served as the first gala master of ceremonies in 2009, will reprise that role in celebration of the college’s 50th anniversary and the foundation’s 10th annual event.

“We are so excited about this year’s gala as we celebrate SFCC’s 50th anniversary and reflect on the kindness and generosity of the great communities we serve,” said Dr. Joanna Anderson, SFCC president. “It is going to be a night of wonderful food, fun and fellowship and looking forward to growing high-demand programs and developing a talented workforce for the communities we serve.“

The Diamond Empire Band was founded in 2012 and has been setting the industry standard for high-energy performances ever since. The seven-member band offers a wide repertoire of music from rock and country to classical and jazz. Also during the evening, guests will be treated to surprise performances from local talent.

The live auction this year has a golden theme, which means the items offered will be connected to that idea. As more auction information becomes available, it will be posted at sfccmo.edu/golden-gala. Garber Auctioneer will conduct the auction.

“This year, the foundation is pleased to celebrate the college’s 50th anniversary as well as our 10th gala fundraiser, “said Mary Treuner, executive director of the SFCC Foundation. “Diamond Empire will provide great music for dancing and listening pleasure, so we hope people who have never attended our gala will come for an enjoyable, and what I believe will be a memorable evening.”

Golden Gala tickets are $100 per person. Individuals, groups or businesses also may reserve tables of 10 for $1,000.

Semi-formal attire is suggested. Parking is available in front of the Davis Multipurpose Center.

Reservations are due by March 15. To reserve seats and buy spirits for guest tables, call the foundation at (660) 530-5811 or email Karen Simon at ksimon@sfccmo.edu. For more details, visit sfccmo.edu/golden-gala.
