High school seniors who choose to pursue career or technical certificates or degrees at State Fair Community College are invited to a special signing day Saturday, March 2, at 9 a.m. in the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center on the Sedalia campus.

Students who wish to attend this special event with family and friends need to apply for admission to SFCC by Feb. 1. In addition to recognition for committing to a future in career and technical education (CTE), students will have a chance to win $250 scholarships for each program.

“At our CTE Signing Day, we want to celebrate students who choose to pursue career and technical programs and raise awareness that these types of careers lead to a great future,” said Mark Kelchner, dean of Technical Education and Workforce Innovation. “These young men and women are bright and ambitious. After completing a one or two-year program, they can enter the workforce in fields with well-paying careers.”

SFCC offers career and technical programs in agriculture; automotive; accounting, business and office management; computers, network administration and information systems; criminal justice; early childhood development; construction management; engineering and architectural design; electrical and industrial maintenance; robotics; machining; and welding. Health science careers offered include dental hygiene, diagnostic medical sonography; nurse aide; medication technician; pharmacy technician, health information, medical coding, assisting and laboratory technician; practical and registered nursing, occupational therapy assistant; and radiologic technology.  Admission applications are free and available at www.sfccmo.edu/apply.

For students pursuing a health science career, admission to SFCC is not automatic acceptance into the program. Acceptance into these programs is selective and requires completing a second, program-specific admission application.

This is the second year SFCC has held a CTE Signing Day. The event not only recognizes, celebrates and welcomes high school seniors who have chosen SFCC but also features a resource fair, financial aid and student life information sessions, and keynote speaker Jessica Craig, executive director of Economic Development Sedalia-Pettis County.
