State Fair Community College’s Brandon Hammond, Upward Bound academic advisor at Smith-Cotton High School, has been elected as a Member-at-Large on the MO-KAN-NE Board of Directors.

Brandon Hammond, academic advisor at Smith-Cotton High School for State Fair Community College’s Upward Bound TRiO program, has been sworn in as a Member-at-Large on the Board of Directors for the regional chapter of MO-KAN-NE (Missouri-Kansas-Nebraska), a national TRIO professional organization. He will serve a yearlong appointment.

Hammond also chairs the MO-KAN-NE Pre-College Student Leadership Conference committee that is organizing a conference to be held at SFCC’s Sedalia campus early June. About 200 pre-college TRIO students will attend the two-day conference.

MO-KAN-NE is a chapter of the Educational Opportunity Association (EOA), one of the 10 regional associations in the United States that form the Council for Opportunity in Education (COE) that represents TRIO programs nationwide. About 140 TRIO programs in the MO-KAN-NE service region serve more than 43,000 participants.
