To be eligible for most Missouri student financial aid, initial and renewal students should have a <a href=\"https:\/\/fafsa.gov\/\"><strong>Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;on file by Feb. 1, but no later than April 1. Eligible students who apply between Feb. 1 and April 1 will be awarded state financial aid based on funding availability.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1109\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sfccmo.edu\/admissions-financial-aid\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2021\/08\/moneyscream.jpg\" alt=\"money screaming lady\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sfccmo.edu\/admissions-financial-aid\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2021\/08\/moneyscream.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.sfccmo.edu\/admissions-financial-aid\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2021\/08\/moneyscream-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.sfccmo.edu\/admissions-financial-aid\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2021\/08\/moneyscream-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For more information about the Missouri Student Aid Programs listed, contact the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development (MDHEWD) Information Service Center at (800) 473-6757 or (573) 751-3940 or <a href=\"https:\/\/journeytocollege.mo.gov\/pay\/state-financial-aid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/journeytocollege.mo.gov\/pay\/state-financial-aid\/<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dhewd.mo.gov\/ppc\/grants\/advancedplacement.php\">Advanced Placement Incentive Grant<\/a><\/strong> &#8211; The Advanced Placement Incentive Grant is a nonrenewable grant designed to encourage high school students to take and score well on Advanced Placement tests in mathematics and science.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/dhe.mo.gov\/\"><strong>Bright Flight Program<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; The Bright Flight Program provides scholarship awards in the amount of up to $3,000 per year to students who have achieved a composite score on the American College Testing Program (ACT) or the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) in the top three (3) percent of all Missouri students taking those tests. The student must be enrolled full-time in a Missouri college or university.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dhewd.mo.gov\/ppc\/grants\/kidschance.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kid\u2019s Chance Program<\/a> <\/strong>&#8211; This scholarship is available to children of workers who were seriously injured or died in a work-related accident covered and compensated by workers&#8217; compensation. A serious injury is one that led to a paid settlement or judicial award and is verified with information from the Missouri Division of Workers&#8217; Compensation.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/dhewd.mo.gov\/ppc\/returningheroesact.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><u>Missouri Returning Heroes\u2019 Education Act<\/u><\/strong><\/a> &#8211; The Missouri Returning Heroes Act, Section 173.900, RSMo, established August 28, 2008, as amended effective August 28, 2019, provides reduced tuition for certain combat veterans attending public institutions of higher education.&nbsp; Please submit completed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfccmo.edu\/files\/financial-aid\/MO-Returning-heroes-Act.pdf\">Missouri Returning Heroes Education Act form<\/a> to <a href=\"mailto:finaid@sfccmo.edu\">finaid@sfccmo.edu<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/dhewd.mo.gov\/ppc\/grants\/muelp_0310_final.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><u>Minority and Underrepresented Environmental Literacy Program<\/u><\/strong><\/a> &#8211; This is a scholarship designed to assist academically talented minority and underrepresented individuals pursuing a bachelor&#8217;s or master&#8217;s degree in an environmental course of study that will lead to employment in a field that is clearly environmentally related.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/dhe.mo.gov\/ppc\/grants\/publicserviceofficer.php\"><strong>Public Service Officer or Employee\u2019s Child Survivor Grant Program<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; This program provides tuition grants to public safety officers or Missouri Department of Transportation employees engaged in the construction or maintenance of the state\u2019s highways, roads and bridges who were permanently and totally disabled in the line of duty. The grant is also available to their children and spouses, as well as the children and spouses who survive such employees who were killed in the line of duty.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/dhe.mo.gov\/\"><strong><u>Wartime Veteran Survivor Grant Program<\/u><\/strong> &#8211; <\/a>This grant is available to children and spouses of Vietnam veterans whose death was attributed to or caused by exposure to toxic chemicals during the Vietnam conflict.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/msep.mhec.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><u>Midwest Student <\/u><\/strong><strong><u>Exchange <\/u><\/strong><strong><u>Program<\/u><\/strong><\/a> &#8211; Over 50 college and universities in the Midwest offer a Reduced out-of-state tuition rate program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development administers a number of state grants and scholarships.
