Service Area

In 1993 SFCC’s service region was established by the Missouri Community College Association to include all or parts of Carroll, Cooper, Moniteau, Cole, Morgan, Miller, Johnson, Henry, Saline, St. Clair, Hickory, and Camden counties. SFCC continues to service these regions without taxing these communities.

Taxing District

The taxing district includes Benton and Pettis counties, the Cooper County R-VI Otterville school district, and small portions of school districts in Henry, Morgan, Johnson, and Saline counties. The 2019 tax levy rate is .40 cents per $100 assessed
valuation of real and personal property. Taxing district residents receive the benefit of the in-district tuition rate.

The Lake of the Ozarks

State Fair Community College has a 28,000-square-foot campus in Osage Beach that features 11 classrooms, three science labs, three computer labs, a testing center and a commons area for students. This means that the Lake Area has a fully comprehensive community college with no increase to property taxes.

SFCC-Lake of the Ozarks serves traditional students, nontraditional adult students who want to upgrade their skills and industries needing customized training. Classes are small, teachers are local and tuition is affordable. Students who are eligible for the Missouri A+ scholarship funds do not pay any tuition to attend a community college.

The comprehensive community college also boasts the top-ranked nursing program in the state at the Lake of the Ozarks, Clinton, and Sedalia.

Election 2020

The Camdenton R-III School District recently approved adding a question to the April 2020 ballot. If passed, this ballot issue has the potential to change the current service area at the Lake of the Ozarks. On January 23, 2020, the SFCC Board of Trustees approved a resolution opposing this action.
