Ellebracht, a retired senior global research and development director for Dow Chemical Company, is the principle stakeholder in a number of start-up companies and has agricultural interests in Cooper and Pettis counties. He is a recognized expert in areas such as atomic spectroscopy, fiber optics, plastics, telecommunications, photovoltaics, and building science. He also holds 11 individual patents and has published or presented more than 70 scientific articles.

Ellebracht grew up in Cooper County, graduated from Pilot Grove High School in 1969 and earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Chemistry from the University of Missouri. He received the University of Missouri Distinguished Alumni award for his work in chemistry and chemical engineering and also received the Dow Chemical Genesis Award.

Ellebracht has been involved in community activities ranging from serving on foundation and school boards to coaching his children’s sports teams. He has served on governmental committees and advisory boards for Raritan Valley Community College and the University of Missouri.

“I am interested in ways to get involved with helping and giving back to the community,” said Ellebracht. “Serving on the foundation board is a good way to achieve that, and I look forward to getting to know the members of the board and working together to support and grow SFCC.”

Ellebracht and his wife Karen have been married for 38 years and have five adult children. They recently moved from Michigan to the Sedalia area.

Ellebracht will serve a three-year term ending in August 2019.

The foundation, a nonprofit, tax-exempt corporation, was established in 1981 to raise funds to meet SFCC’s needs. Its mission is to support and assist the college in serving the community by providing accessible, quality educational programs and services.
