Listed below are the instructors in the SFCC Music Department for the 2006-2007 school year
Kevin Schildknecht
Kevin Schildknecht became the Program Coordinator for the Music Department in the fall of 2006. He is graduate of College of the Ozarks where he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education. He recently completed a Master of Arts in Music Theory and Composition from the University of Central Missouri. Mr. Schildknecht has many years of music education and church music experience. He currently directs the Concert Chorale, Soundsation Express and the Jazz Runners as well as teaches private vocal and instrumental lessons, music appreciation, music history, piano and conducting. Kevin resides in Warrensburg with his wife, Becki and children, Tyler and Morgan.
Sandy Cordes
Sandy Cordes, past president of the Missouri Choral Directors Association, recently retired from 34 years of public school teaching in Missouri, and now teaches private voice and directs the Chamber Singers at State Fair Community College. Mrs. Cordes' honors include: Outstanding Educator Smith-Cotton High School; Outstanding Educator for the Sedalia School District #200; Finalist for the Missouri Teacher of the Year; Outstanding Music Alumni from Central Missouri State University; Who's Who Among American Teachers; Most Influential Teacher Award presented by the University of Missouri-Columbia; Outstanding Music Educator Award presented by the National Federation of High School Activities Association 2004, Section 5(Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa, Michigan, North and South Dakota, Minnesota and Montana), and she was most recently awarded the New Score Hall of Fame Award by Smith-Cotton High School. Sandy resides in Sedalia with her husband, Howard.
Kevin Holbert
Kevin Holbert has enjoyed a successful career teaching both vocal and instrumental music for the last 35 years. He holds a B.M.E. and a M.S.E. from Central Missouri State University. He has been awarded Teacher of the Year for his school district twice in his career, been selected the Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year for the Sedalia Area in 1999, and was West-Central District Choir Director of the Year in 2003. Mr. Holbert is currently teaching Applied Voice and is vocal coach for the spring musical Little Shop of Horrors at SFCC. Kevin is the president of the West Central Missouri Music Educators. Kevin lives on his country estate outside of Green Ridge with his wife, Katie.
Sherry Gilpin Printz
Sherry Printz has been an adjunct instructor at SFCC for three years. She currently teaches Music in Western Civilization and three piano lab classes at SFCC. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Vocal Music from the University of Missouri – Columbia. She retired from public school teaching in 2004 after 31 years. Sherry taught in the Santa Fe School District (Alma/Waverly, MO), Higginsville Middle and High School, and Blue Springs South High School.
Sherry is active in the Missouri Music Educator’s Association and American Choral Director’s Association. She serves as treasurer of the Missouri Choral Director’s Association. She was named Outstanding Director from the West-Central District of MCDA in 2001. Sherry and Sandy Cordes, also an adjunct instructor at SFCC, co-compiled the “New Teacher’s Handbook” for MCDA and provide a new teacher training workshop in July each year. Sherry is active as an adjudicator throughout Missouri and Kansas. Sherry resides in Warrensburg and has two children and two grandchildren.
Phil Lewis
Phil Lewis came to SFCC in the fall of 2006 as the adjunct instructor of guitar. He retired from California High School where he was the band director. Phil teaches Guitar Classes I and II as well as applied guitar lessons.
Mike Grove
Dr. Mike Grove has taught Music Theory and Aural Training at State Fair since 2004. He retired from Windsor Public Schools where he taught elementary music.
Gwen Kappelmann
Gwen Kappelmann is the staff accompanist for Chorale and Chamber Singers and accompanies the majority of the private students for recitals and juries. She also teaches applied piano. She is a retired music teacher from Sedalia Public Schools.
