New Student Orientation
All first-time freshmen are required to attend a New Student Orientation. This includes students who have dual credit from another college or university.
The goals of New Student Orientation are to:
- help you learn the resources necessary to make a successful transition to college life.
- give you information about the services at SFCC such as financial aid, free tutoring, classroom accommodations and many more.
- network with other students.
- meet with faculty to gain an understanding of expectations.
- gain hands-on experience with technology used in the classroom and for online courses.
New students are scheduled for Orientation after their initial advising and registration appointment. Orientations are held shortly before each semester begins. They are scheduled at a variety of times and dates. Orientations last approximately four hours and students earn 1/2 credit upon completion of the orientation.
Because space is limited at each orientation, it is required that a student RSVP. An online orientation may also be a good option for a student unable to attend in person. More specific information about orientations is available from the Advising and Resource Center on the main campus.
