What is LAE?
Lambda Alpha Epsilon is a national co-ed fraternal organization. First established in 1937 at San Jose State College in California, the American Criminal Justice Association has grown to six regional headquarters covering the entire United States and includes chapters representing 75% of the states. The organization's objectives are to:
- Improve criminal justice through educational activities.
- Foster professionalism in law enforcement personnel and agencies.
- Promote professional, academic, and public awareness of criminal justice issues.
- Encourage the establishment and expansion of higher education and professional training in criminal justice.
- Provide a unified voice for professionals in, and students of, criminal justice.
- Promote ethics, intellectual achievement, and leadership among undergraduate students.
Membership is composed of persons who are formally committed to the field of criminal justice, either through their education or their employment. Chapters are organized as professional, collegiate, or a combination of both depending upon eligible members in the community. Memberships are drawn from the total criminal justice spectrum - law enforcement, prosecution, defense, courts, and corrections.
