Distinguished Alumni Award Nomination Form & Guidelines
Each year State Fair Community College recognizes the outstanding achievements of an SFCC graduate with the presentation of the Distinguished Alumni Award. To be eligible, a nominee must be a person of such integrity; stature and demonstrated ability that the faculty, staff, students and alumni of the college will take pride in and be inspired by his or her recognition. This individual must be someone who in deed and action reflects and recognizes the importance of his or her education at SFCC and demonstrates pride in the alma mater.
The Distinguished Alumni Award is presented annually at the SFCC commencement exercise in May. Nominations are accepted throughout the year. Nominees who are not selected remain in the pool for five years from the nomination date. Appplications are reviewed by a selection committee.
Any individual may nominate an SFCC graduate for this award by submitting to the SFCC Foundation Office the following materials.
- A completed nomination form;
- A nomination letter stating why this individual deserves the distinction of receiving the Distinguished Alumni Award; and
- Two letters of recommendation from other individuals knowledgeable about the nominee’s accomplishments and pride in SFCC.
Individuals making nominations are also encouraged to supply additional materials including but not limited to newspaper or magazine articles about the nominee, publications or other materials produced by the nominee and additional letters of recommendation.
Individuals who are full-time members of the State Fair Community College faculty, staff, or elected governing board during the current fiscal year are ineligible to be nominated for the Distinguished Alumni Award. Distinguished alumni awards are not granted posthumously.
